Mapledurham is such a beautiful wedding venue. The stunning 16th Century House certainly added an atmospheric air of sophistication and elegance to Harriet and Rob's classy black tie wedding.

As an Oxfordshire wedding photographer, I was a delighted to be asked by Harriet and Rob to capture their special day at the superbly impressive Mapledurham House.

Getting ready at The Swan at Streatley

As an Oxfordshire Wedding Photographer I love the fun and excitement of all the preperations. This epic day started with the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready amidst laughter and excitement at The Swan at Streatley, a charming riverside hotel just up the Thames from Mapledurham.

Rob and his groomsmen were nearby putting the finishing touches to their dapper black tie attire and sharing a few pre-ceremony drinks before they set off for the ceremony.

The rain didn't stop their love story

The ceremony had been planned to take place on the rolling lawns overlooking the picturesque Mill at Mapledurham, but just before the guests were about to arrive an unexpected downpour threatened to dampen the festivities so the operations team at Mapledurham swiftly pivoted to relocate everything indoors to one of the charming rooms within Mapledurham House. The rain ceased as quickly as it had arrived, and rays of golden sunlight streamed through the ancient windows and it continued to shine for the rest of this glorious day.

Mapledurham and Teepee magic!

As the evening celebrations commenced, Harriet and Rob's elegant black tie wedding evolved into a vibrant, colourful festival theme. The teepee marquee was decorated with brightly coloured streamers, twinkling fairy lights, and accent pieces that perfectly complemented the festive ambiance. The newlyweds had put so much thought into creating a fun, lively atmosphere.

Fairytale ending to a very special day!

One of the highlights of the day was the incredible, vivid rainbow that appeared and stretched across the whole sky. The brilliant arc of colours against the dark rain clouds made for an utterly breathtaking sight. So of course, Harriet and Rob took the joyful opportunity to dance beneath the rainbow on their wedding day, completely swept up in the magic of the moment.

Whether you're looking for a fairytale Berkshire wedding venue or searching for an experienced and fun Oxfordshire wedding photographer to capture your day, I hope this blog post has inspired you and showcased the incredible beauty and possibilities that Mapledurham House & Estate has to offer.

“Vicky is absolutely fantastic! We were made to feel so at ease and comfortable on our wedding day with Vicky taking our photos. We aren't huge photo people generally but Vicky made it all feel very natural and the photographs are absolutely stunning.

All of our guests that interacted with Vicky also had nothing but positive things to say about her. We couldn't recommend Vicky enough as a photographer, it was a pleasure having her there on our special day“
